Small Kitchen Features That Can Make a Big Difference!

When planning a kitchen renovation of any sort, be sure you take time to consider all the small features and details that can make using your kitchen easier and more enjoyable overall. While some details and accessories you might add to the kitchen may seem a bit trivial, they can often help you to keep the space organized, and reduce clutter. Some small features can even be just downright fun to have! Note a few small kitchen features you might want to consider if you're thinking of remodelling or redesigning your kitchen in any way.
Deep drawers
Trying to store items that are too large for drawers but too small for cupboards can be cumbersome; measuring cups, a cheese grater, a handheld strainer, and other such utensils might become a jumbled mess when stored in the cupboards, but typically cannot fit in standard drawers. Having a few deep drawers that allow you to store these items in a neat and organized way can mean keeping them easily accessible, but also out of the way of other items in the kitchen.
Drawers with niches
Very often there are certain standard tools that you want to keep in kitchen drawers, and drawers with carved niches inside can keep these items organized and visible, and at your fingertips. Note the tools you have on hand and use often in the kitchen; this might include a cheese slicer, garlic press, corkscrew, can opener, and the like. A cabinetmaker can then create niches in drawer inserts to fit these items in particular.
Dishwasher drawer
A dishwasher drawer is a very compact dishwasher, the size of a deep drawer. It's meant to hold just a few plates and other items, and it can be a great choice for those who live alone or who don't cook very often. This type of dishwasher can be installed in addition to a standard dishwasher, or instead of a larger model, and it can mean using far less water and power for washing everyday dishes.
Ice machine
Many refrigerators have a built-in icemaker, but these standard models may create no more than a small bin of ice at a time. An ice machine, such as those found at hotels, can be very small and compact, and take up no more room than a standard lower cabinet. They can be a great choice for those who use a lot of ice throughout the day, such as for making exotic drinks, or for making smoothies and shakes or even homemade ice cream.
